FRENCH – Ghislaine Avan

Ghislaine Avan is a French multidisciplinary artist, born in Châtellerault. Choreographer, tap dancer and contemporary dance performer, videographer and film editor, she makes a path of life of her art. In 2006 she started a multimedial work based on the Divine Comedy, from which the “Le LA du Monde“ project derived, involving a large number of excerpts taken from Dante's poem and read by hundreds of people in languages all over the world. Here Ghislaine lends her voice to Francesca and reads Dante's relevant verses in two different French translations of the Comedy.

Translation in Latin prose by Giovanni de Bertoldi (Serravalle of Romagna, today Republic of San Marino, 1360 – Fano 1445), known as Giovanni da Serravalle, franciscan friar and theologian native of Romagna. He translated the Divine Comedy in Latin, providing a commentary of the entire poem, in 1416. First printed edition – a gigantic volume – published at Prato in 1891.
