Maria Camilleri was born at Zabbar, Malta, where she works as a teacher and an actress. In the last ten years she has been busy as a broadcaster on Radio Hompesch, producing many programmes of a different nature, both for adults and children, particularly stressing on art, drama and the educational. On this same radio station she took part in various radio-plays, poetry recitals, story-telling and talk-shows, as well as in a very popular quiz show for children. Some of the radio-plays were written by her.
Forever keen on promoting social education, she organised a series of talks aimed against the misuse and abuse of drugs and alcohol.
At the Zabbar Civic Council, together with other friends, Maria Camilleri enjoys promoting literature and drama and actually takes an active part in them herself.
Maria Camilleri has lent her voice to Francesca da Rimini and read the relevant verses (88-142) in the translation into Maltese by Alfred Palma.
